New Projects

Or should I say just simply projects, since I've never actually started any true crafty/diy/projects. I'm bound and determined to put my two giant boxes of craft supplies to good use this summer and have actual finished projects.

A lot of these revolve around baby ideas. Joeseph's brother and sister in-law are having a baby girl in September so I'd love to make a few things for her. I'm trying to find things that are more beginner friendly. I don't want to get myself in too deep with projects that may turn out to be more work than I anticipated.

One thing I know I HAVE to make is a tutu! I've seen tons of them in the stores and I'm sure I'll end up buying a couple for the baby anyway, but this easy diy tutorial has me convinced I can turn one out with no problems. I'll probably add a little bow or something to jazz it up and I'm hoping it turns out!

I was browsing Pinterest and came accross the adorable diaper cover. The tutorial makes it seem easy enough and should be pretty affordable as far as cost goes. The only thing I'm worried about is all the sewing! But, I'm determined to at least try it and if all else fails I'm sure I can get my mom to lend me her awesome sewing skills.
One thing that I know will for sure be at least semi-easy is headbands. I have a ton of headband making supplies from all the times Amy and I have vowed to make our own. This calls for the use of nylons rather than elastic and a little sewing. I love the idea on this particular style of switching out the flowers. I may buy a few and gift them as well. I also plan on making a couple of elastic headbands either for myself or the baby.

As far as non baby related crafts go, I'm completely loving these painted votives.
Seriously, just swoosh some pretty paints on the inside and voila! I'd probably put them in my bedroom or on my entertainment center in my living room.
I have a letter "K" just itching to get prettied up from another Hobby Lobby adventure of my and Amy's. This will be super simple as well, as you can pretty much use whatever you want to decorate.

Now I just need to get out to the craft/fabric store to get more supplies and get crafting away, finally!

I love socks

If you know me, you know that two fo my favorite things are socks and undies. You can always find me taking advantage of Targets awesome $1/pair colorful printed socks or any at any place that offers any type of deal on cute underoos. So I completely fell in love when I stumbled upon Strathcona Stockings, a little Etsy shop selling hand painted stockings.

They also have an online store with other options here. I'm in love with all of the prints. I might have to save up and buy a pair sometime soon!

Sam Made

Samantha's wonderful blog Post Grad Haircut is giving away this pretty summertime bag! For extra awesomeness Sam herself designed it via her little business Sam Made!
I really like how big it is, as I'm a fan of large and in charge bags. It would be perfect for a daytrip or even going to the lake or beach!

Get Crafty!

Lately I've really been bitten by the craft bug for some reason, probably because Amy and I decided to do crafts while she's home more so than go out and spend ridiculous amounts of money like we did last winter. The only problem is that I've never really been a crafty person and have no real talent in making things and thinking of ideas. However, over the weekend Amy sent me a couple of links to some crafts sites so we could get inspiration and I fell in love with How About Orange... a super cute blog devoted to design and crafting. The majority of the projects and ideas on there are fairly easy to make so even novices like myself can at least feel like we have a chance at making something half way decent.

Some of my favorites so far include...
paper heart garland

fabric wall decals.

felt flowers.

magazine page coasters.

fabric covered thumbtacks

and

magazine bows.

Now I'm super excited to start making things!!!!!! (I'm so glad we're finding ideas now Amy! Now we don't have to wander around Hobby Lobby with no idea what we're doing ever again hahaha.)
