Busy Bee

In the last couple of weeks I have become so incredibly busy, at least compared to how "busy" I have been. I've joined a couple of organizations of campus and classes have really picked up. This week alone I have two tests, a 5 page research paper, and 5 psychology journals to take care of before I can even think about even getting any kind of good sleep. Plus I have meetings for the campus magazine I'm doing PR for, Ball Bearings, as well as the pre-professional PR organization I joined, PRSSA. So, needless to say I'm a busy bee lately, which is actually a very welcome change. The hardest part for me is staying focused, which I'm absolutely horrible at, but I'm working on it. I know there are many other people on campus way way way busier than I am, and I'm not really a stranger to cramming 50 things into a day (hello the last 2 years of working 35+ hours a week, 15+ hours of classes, campus organizations, etc...) so I'm really liking the pick up.

I'm nearing 21 and I'm getting really excited about it. Mostly because I think everyone else really hypes up turning 21. You know it's supposed to be this big, crazy, exciting, grown up, birthday and all. In preperation I purchased a pair of birthday shoes over the weekend.

Cue these super fun multi-color, glitter, Steve Madden flats that I'm IN LOVE with! I get way too into my birthday, and once there is a month or less leading up to it I'm in full anticipation mode. I'm really still a lot like my 5 year old self.

As for my apartment, it goes in and out of stages of cleanliness. Last weekend before I had a slew of visitors come down to see me it was spotless. Scrubbed, swept, dusted...the who shibang. A week later there are dirty dishes in the sink and clothes slewn all over my bedroom. Luckily my mom may be paying me a visit Saturday or Sunday so I'll have an excuse to get it cleaned up, and post some pictures of my lovely, humble, abode.

Someday I'll cut back on the lengthy personal updates and be more fun.

A BSU update!

Since being accepted to Ball State last month things have really started picking up. Two weeks ago I went to Muncie with my mom, grandma, and grandpa to look for an apartment. After much thought and deliberation, as well as one giant pro/con list I finally decided on a nice 2 bedroom apartment in a place called Sugarbush. I'm really excited to finally have that taken care of so I can start thinking about decorating and painting! We decided to have the apartment available August 1st so I can start moving little things down once my lease in my current apartment is up on July 31st. I'll officially move down there the week before school to get settled.

I got all signed up for orientation yesterday. My scheduled day is May 13th. Luckily transfer students only have a half day orientation as opposed to freshman who have a 2 day orientation. When I'm in Muncie for orientation I'll also meet with my advisor to schedule my classes. I'm kind of nervous about that since I am changing my major. I don't want the last two years of school to go to waste.

Today I turned in my expected last date of work which will be Friday August 13th. It will be a little bittersweet for me. I've worked here at Dirig officially for 3 years and known a lot of these people a majority of my life. While it will be sad when it comes for me to leave, I'll be happy to not have to worry about balancing a full time class schedule with a full time job, at least for the first couple of weeks of school.

With everything coming together more and more I'm getting more anxious but I'm still really excited.

It's official

Beginning in the fall semester of 2010 (aka this fall) I will be moving down to Muncie to become a Ball State Cardinal! I'm both really excited and a little scared for this big move. While I haven't always been the happiest living here in Fort Wayne going to school, I have gotten comfortable. My family is here, my boyfriend is here, my job is here, and (a lot of) my friends are here. However, I know that going down to Ball State is what I need, as it was my original plan back when I graduated high school two years ago. Now I just need to get signed up for classes and find an apartment, which will be fun. I plan on moving into a one bedroom apartment all my own where I can decorate however I want and do as I please. I'm hoping that this is the beginning of exciting things in my life, and it's nice to know that good things are coming my way (with my always charming pessimistic attitude as of late). It's going to be one big adventure and I'm more than ready to get it started.

Isn't it funny how things work out

At the start of today I was literally on the verge of being sick with worry over my plans for the next academic year. For the last few weeks thoughts concerning my major, where I was going, where I would live, etc... have been swirling in my head. This week was going to be the crucial one as far as my future plans go, and having not heard back from either of the schools I applied to for transfer (Ball State and IUPUI), I began to accept that I'd most likely have no choice but to stay here (at IPFW) for the last two years of college. However, today my mom brought me a piece of mail that could totally turn everything around...an acceptance letter from IUPUI! I'm completely thrilled!

I still have a lot of thinking to do, as well as continuing to wait and see what Ball State says, and some talking about logistics with my mom. But as of right now I'm pretty much over the moon estatic and just had to share!
