Bed Bath and Beyond is the current love of my life

A few things I've bought for my apartment lately...
KitchenAid hand mixer.
KitchenAid toaster. (I have a matching blender too that I got for Christmas last year haha)
Marilyn Monroe cutting board (yes her face is made of various vegetables!)
I finally found bedding I liked after the bedding I was in love with went out of stock!

I'm probably way more excited about my apartment than I should be, but at my mom's I've had the same bed and furniture since I was little and at my old apartment it was furnished and we couldn't really do much with it. So...this is going to be my little project. If I have a place all to myself I'm going to take advantage of making it mine!

Welcome back Monday

This weekend went way too fast and it was quite the interesting one! Friday I hung out with Meredith and got dinner with her parents at Cebolla's. It was delicious. Then I went and met up with boyfriend to hang out with a few friends.

Saturday I had to take my car in to the dealer for an oil change at 9am, aka way too early on a Saturday for me to be out and about.  When I got home I was surprised to see my rommate packing nearly everything in our kitchen up to move. She had previously told me she was moving in with another girl who wanted to start her lease in May rather than wait until our lease is up in July, but she never told me when exactly she was moving or what she was taking. So, after she left I found that I no longer have a toaster, pots/pans, cookie sheets, dishes, or a tv, plus a few other things. I was livid. I wouldn't have been mad had she told me what she was taking with her, especially since before she had said she was leaving some things at our place. So now I have to spend money I don't have on things I didn't think I would have to worry about buying until I move to Muncie. Luckily I already had a tv and some dishes waiting at my mom's so I went ahead and got those. This is one of the exact reasons I don'twant a rommate for next year. My overall experience with my current roommate has been AWFUL and Saturday just put me over the top and ruined a good portion of my day. Boyfriend took me out to lunch because he knew I was having a bad day and we went to a comic book store so he could browse around. When we got back to my place I ended up taking a 2 hour nap and thankfully woke up feeling much better. That night Meredith came over and we did some browsing at a few stores before deciding to pick Joe up and go to Casa's for dinner. Then we went back to my place and  watched tv and after Mere left the boy and I cuddled and watched a movie.

Sunday I layed in bed most of the day catching up on Glee and doing homework. Then Joe came over and we went to my cousins 11th birthday party and then his mom's for dinner. I spent the rest of the night studying for my finals this week.

I'm so excited that this is my last week of school for the year and my last week of school at IPFW. I have finals that I have to go to campus for today, tomorrow, and Wednesday, and my other two finals have to be taken online by Sunday night. It's been a long, crazy, semester so I'm glad to see it end.

Living

Roomie and I have finally settled into apartment life. We come and go as we please but still make time at least once a week to relax and gossip and watch trashy reality television together. I really enjoy having my own place and space. It is also surreal and very nice to be able to call everything there mine and not "my mom's" or "my family's"; it's mine or mine and Haley's, it's great.

Yesterday our heating/air conditioner broke. When roomie came home from class it was 54 degrees in the apartment and by the time I got home from class and getting some dinner it was only up to 60. Needless to say we were chilled to the bone!

Everyone in our complex is between the ages of 18 and 23ish. This means that it is party central almost every day of my life around me. I don't think I've come home if I go out at night and not heard music thumping and bumping somewhere. It's kind of nice knowing that everyone around me is young, but I really could go without party central 24/7. Oh well, it's kind of amusing.

One day I will take pictures of my apartment for people to see. I love it.

Day 1

Yesterday roomie and I moved into our lovely apartment! It's very weird knowing that my mom and brothers are nowhere in the vicinity of me and that it is MY home. Haley and I started putting together the living room and kitchen last night which has made the apartment full of empty boxes and trash bags, so hopefully tonight we decide to tackle taking the trash out. I still have to put my room together the way that I want it and buy my bathroom things (I couldn't shower today, don't judge me!).

Even after less than 24 hours of having my own place I have found myself doing little homey things I never expected I would do. For example last night I was trying to make the living room look half decent so there wasn't trash everywhere while Ben kept telling me to "do less and relax more" because I was freaking him out. Also, while cups with ice in them were sitting on the coffee table I got annoyed with the watery condensation on the table and announced to everyone that I was going to go buy coasters tonight. Oh and before I left for work today I started a load in the dishwasher so roomie and I have nice, clean, sanatized plates and such. I must be ill.

Tonight after work me and Haley are going grocery shopping which we are both weirdly excited about. I will post pictures of our little home after we tidy up and it doesn't look like a dumpster exploded everywhere. Yay for growing up!

Senseless Tidbits

I move into my apartment one week from today. I am both super excited and extremely terrified. I will finally be out on my own, in my own home, with my own responsibilities. I'm really eager to have a space all my own and be able to kind do as I please without my mom hollering at me or telling no and without my little brothers yelling and wrestling around 24/7. It will also be nice to call something of this magnitude my own. My roommate Haley and I get along real well so I'm very optimistic. I just keep worrying about money, which I really shouldn't be. I make more than enough money to pay my rent and keep gas in my car and put food in my belly, I just am very well aware of the fact that my life is basically Confessions of a Shopaholic. However, if I can obtain some self control and be realistic (which I never have been with money) I will be perfectly fine. So, all in all one week and I'm on my own, I couldn't be happier about it.

Tonight I get my monthly hair cut and color and I really have no idea what to do to my hair. I've gotten it done so many different ways that I'm running out of ideas. Some examples:

Basically my hair has been all of these shades/cuts and everything in between. I take my hair very seriously and never have the same look twice in a row. Maybe I'll go really blonde and then work my way back darker through the fall and winter. Plan!

I'm in love with Brand New's forthcoming album Daisy already. They've leaked one song so far, "At the Bottom", and I think it's really good. I've always been a fan of Brand New and love that their sound evolves with each new record. I'm pretty sure I'm going to see them and Manchester Orchestra October 3rd at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. I'm stoked.

The last week I've been putting a package together for Amy Marie. I'm kind of slow at this. I have mostly everything I want to send her but I haven't completed the last step of actually sending it. That's my goal for this week, to get her package all ready and sent out to Idaho!

Work is really slow and I'm once again growing tired of the monotony of waking up each morning at 6:30am,leaving for work at 7:15 and working until 4:30.

If you're actually reading this I applaud you. There is no real purpose other than to occupy and distract myself at work.

Lately I've been feeling lonely.
I miss having more people in my life that legitimately care about me and are there for me no matter what.
The amount of people I feel that I can truly depend on is dwindling, and while I wish there were more I could really be close with I know I should be even more grateful for those who I do have in my life. (which I am!)

I just signed a lease today for my first apartment.
It is both extremely liberating and crazy scary.
For the first time in my life I will be on my own and fully responsible for myself.
However, I think this will be a good step for me.
I'm pretty happy with my roomates Tressie and Haley, I'm sure things will go smoothly which is a plus.
I still can't shake my nerves though.

I am officially going to Idaho this summer!
Once I get my tax return check I will be purchasing my plane ticket.
The only problem is picking a time to come!
Oh,and the fact that it will be the first time ever that I will fly is rather scary, but I will get over it.

I say I alot.

"You shouldn't overspend at the moment. Frugality is important."

Thanks fortune cookie.

I have a lot of things I want to save up for for the very near future as well as further down the road. I've been doing much better at not blowing my pay checks every week (minus the Chicago trip, but that was expected). I'm learning how to save my money in order to get things that I want rather than relying on my parents since I'm 6 months from being 20 years old. Now that I have a steady job that pays decently and I'll be working somewhere around 40 hours a week during the summer I'll have plaenty of money and opprotunity to save it.

Things I'm saving for...
1.summer clothes - granted I go shopping a lot, but I always buy things I want right then and not always things I need. I really need to purchase some dresses/dressy clothes for work,sandals/non wintery shoes, and a decent bathing suit.

2.a weekend in Chicago - me and Meredith decided a while back that we definitely wanted to go to Chicago this summer for a weekend. It's probably our favorite place to go ever and the last time we went together it was with my mom and sunt, so this time we want to go on our own. Money being saved will be needed for splitting the cost of a hotel room, gas, food, parking, random spending, and of course shopping.

2.Idaho - I've always talked about visiting Amy out in Idaho but never really had the chance or money. With the money I'll be making this summer however, I should be more than capable of getting a plane ticket to and from Idaho. I'll need money for a plane ticket and spending. Hopefully this idea will pan out for once because I really want an Idaho potato and miss Amy when she is gone for forever!

4.possibly moving out - Celia recently approached me about maybe moving into an apartment for next school year with her and a couple of other girls. The place we're looking at is a 4 bedroom apartment with individual bathrooms. a living room, and kitchen. The complex has a pool, game room, hot tub,and work out room. It's so nice, but a little more expensive than we anticipated. None the less I think it would be a good stepping stone for me since it's still in town for when I transfer schools my junior year, move into my own place, and am out of town and really completely on my own. http://www.stjoeplace.com/

on a different note, it's a beautiful day today!
and, it's almost the weekend!
